Micro Needling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling has become the new gold standard for skincare treatments. Microneedling is used to treat a wide array of skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, skin laxity, and more. The Microneedle device, which consists of several tiny, insulated needles, penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin to create small wounds. This method signals the body to repair the damaged tissue, thus creating more collagen and elastin through natural processes.
How is Microneedling performed?
During the procedure, your therapist will first start by cleaning the area that is to be treated, followed by the application of a topical numbing cream. You’ll numb for approximately 30 minutes before your procedure. Your therapist will then begin the procedure by using the handheld Microneedle device across the area of treatment. Specialized serums or PRP (if purchased separately) may be added to the skin for deeper absorption.
Who is a good candidate for Microneedling?
Microneedling is ideal for someone that wants to improve the appearance of minor skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, and uneven skin tone and texture. This technique is also very safe for darker skin tones, unlike other skin rejuvenation techniques. Microneedling is not recommended for those who have active breakouts or pimples, have open wounds or a skin infection, have had radiation treatment within the last year, or have a history of keloid scars.
Is Microneedling Painful?
Most clients find Microneedling to be completely painless with the use of our topical numbing cream. Bony areas may be more sensitive than others, however the entire procedure should be very tolerable, with minimal discomfort.
How many Microneedling treatments do I need?
While everyone is different, most areas require 3 to 6 treatments to obtain the desired results. Areas can be retargeted every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the area and extent of treatment.
How will I look and feel after each Microneedling treatment?
After your Microneedling treatment, you will experience a mild sunburn look and feel for 1-3 hours. Your skin may remain pink for the next day or so, but shouldn’t cause any significant pain or discomfort.
What is required prior to Microneedling?
Prior to your Microneedle treatment, you’ll need to stop using any product that can cause skin sensitivities a minimum of 10 days before your treatment, along with 10 days after (that includes retinol, exfoliants, and acids, like glycolic acid or salicylic acid). We have several products available in spa to purchase that are recommended to use prior to your procedure to help prepare the skin, such as Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology.
What care is required after Microneedling?
After your Microneedling treatment you’ll want to make sure your skin is kept clean, hydrated, and protected from the sun with a medical grade SPF at all times. Avoid using any topical products or makeup for the first 24 hours, unless otherwise stated from your therapist. DO NOT pick at any scabs or flaking skin! This can cause severe pigmentation issues. We have several products available in spa to purchase that are recommended to use after your procedure to help promote healing of the skin, such as Alastin Gentle Cleanser, Alastin Hydratint Pro Mineral Sunscreen, Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology, and Alastin Ultra Nourishing Skin Moisturizer.

What is RF Microneedling?
Radio Frequency Microneedling, also known as RF Microneedling, combines the techniques of microneedling with the release of High Intensity Radio Frequency to the targeted area. RF Microneedling is used to treat a wide array of skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, scars, pigmentation, skin laxity, and more. The RF Microneedle device, which consists of several tiny, insulated needles, penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin to create small wounds. Once the needles have reached their desired depth, High Intensity Radio Frequency is emitted to heat the surrounding tissues. This method signals the body to repair the damaged tissue, thus creating more collagen and elastin through natural processes. RF Microneedle is often preferred over traditional Microneedle treatments as it is known to cause less damage to the surface of the skin, is more effective in treating a wider range of skincare concerns, and requires less treatments to see optimal results.
How is RF Microneedling performed?
During the procedure, your therapist will first start by cleaning the area that is to be treated, followed by the application of a topical numbing cream. You’ll numb for approximately 30 minutes before your procedure. Your therapist will then begin the procedure by using the handheld RF Microneedle device across the area of treatment. Specialized serums or PRP (if purchased separately) may be added to the skin for deeper absorption.

This technique is also very safe for darker skin tones, unlike other skin rejuvenation techniques. RF Microneedling is not recommended for those who have used Accutane within six months, have active breakouts or pimples, have open wounds or a skin infection, have had radiation treatment within the last year, are pregnant, or have a history of keloid scars.
Is RF Microneedling Painful?
While the topical numbing cream does a great job at minimizing discomfort from the needles, mild discomfort may still be felt when the High Intensity Radio Frequency is emitted. This is because the topical numbing doesn’t absorb deep enough into the dermis where the RF is released. It can be a bit uncomfortable, however it should not be overly painful. Some clients respond well to taking ibuprofen or tylenol prior to their appointment.
How many RF Microneedling treatments do I need?
While everyone is different, most areas only require one treatment to see the desired results, however some clients may need a repeat session depending on the areas being treated and the extent of treatment needed.
How will I look and feel after each RF Microneedling treatment?
After your RF Microneedling treatment, you will experience a mild sunburn look and feel for 1-3 hours. Your skin may remain pink for the next day or so, but shouldn’t cause any significant pain or discomfort. You may also have faint “track” marks where the RF Microneedle device was used, but this should fade over time quickly.
